Year One & Two Parent Information Night 2020

Dear Parents,

As mentioned in the newsletter, we have our annual parents information night on Tuesday the 11th of February.

This is a new format where we offer two sessions times of the same information with an address from Mr. Eugene Lee in between these sessions in the hall.

As we are a Year One and Two team, we will be presenting to both year levels in the Library.

These will commence at:
First Session: 5.00-5.25pm.
5.30 til 5.55pm Parents then attend a brief presentation in the hall
Second Session: 6.00-6.25pm

As on ongoing focus of sustainability at OLC, there will be no paper hand out on the night.  Please see below the link to access the powerpoint presentation and information that will be covered on the night.  This also caters for parents who are unable to attend on the night.

Welcome to Year 2, 2020

Hello and welcome Parents to the Year 2M blog,
I hope you have all had a relaxing and peaceful holiday and enjoyed some of this beautiful Summer weather!
I am looking forward to getting to know your beautiful children and working with you throughout your child's learning journey this year.
Year Two is a big, but exciting year where your child will, discover, grow, create, learn, reflect and experience an abundance of fun and interesting things in our class!

As a parent of a Year Two student, it is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes.  Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready.  Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our class.

Here are some ways you can help: Celebrate your child's success, no matter how small it may seem.  This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!Look f…

Term 4 Week 4

Good morning everyone and welcome to week 4.
I can’t believe that it is nearly week 5 already!! Time truly does fly when you are having fun. Just a few messages  :)

2M Assembly:
I wanted to say a massive thank you to all the parents and the support over the last few weeks with organising costumes and  helping your child learn lines. The kids did an amazing job and I am so proud of them all :)
Water bottles: As the weather gets warmer it is even more important to stay hydrated. Could you please make sure that your child has a water bottle and that it is bought into school. This is to help curve the disruption caused by people constantly wanting to leave the classroom during explicit learning time.
Mental Maths and Sight words: Please ensure your child is bringing their green spelling folder to school each day. We use them each day to practice our list words and sight words. Every Friday they are tested on these words and I am then able to give them new sight words to put straight into their g…

Good Afternoon parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful two-week break with your beautiful children, what wonderful stories they brought back to the class of their time with family and friends. I am so happy to see how much they grew in such a short time.

The students in year two have been working very hard this week, below you will find a brief snapshot of what their week has involved.

Money, money, money sets the focus for maths, including counting and ordering small collections of Australian coins and notes according to their value and identifying equivalent collections. The students have looked at how both coins and notes are made in Australia, they may ask to see a note and look at its unique features such as the small writing and the clear window.

In science we are immersing the students in the Earth’s resources focusing on, water. To introduce this important subject, we discussed what we already know about water and what we wonder about water. Next week, we will be focusing on d…
